A few months ago, we ushered in a new era of efficiency and process optimisation with the introduction of the Lean philosophy at Mister Spex. But what is Lean and how is it possible to transfer the philosophy to all employees across all locations?
Lean management refers to principles of thought, procedures and tools for the efficient design of processes that focus on reducing waste while maximising value creation. It originated in the automotive industry, but has since proven its worth in various sectors. At Mister Spex, we use Lean to improve our workflows, deliver even better products and services, and provide an even smoother experience for our customers.
The Lean approach not only enables us to optimise our internal workflows, but also promotes a culture of continuous improvement. By identifying inefficiencies and eliminating unnecessary steps, we can drive innovation, increase productivity and ensure that our resources are used wisely.
But these are not all the benefits! Implementing Lean is not just about increasing profits, it’s also about fostering a collaborative and high-performing team. When implementing Lean principles, we actively engage our employees through various workshops and encourage them to contribute their insights and ideas to drive positive change throughout the company.
Shortly after the first Lean Management basic workshop, we identified the first processes that we wanted to take a closer look at with the newly learned tools. The first so-called lighthouse projects developed from this. Our colleague Pamela (Director Customer Service) is one of the people responsible for these Lean projects. She raves about the initiative: “Employees become the most important advisors for optimisation potentials; this creates an organisation with a common goal and an open culture of mistakes, which I also like very much from a leadership point of view.”
In total, more than 100 employees have already taken part in the Lean workshops. The fascinating thing: The more people participate in the workshops, the more knowledge transfer takes place within the organisation. As time goes on, the culture is also increasingly shaped by the Lean philosophy.
Pamela confirms that this is not just theoretical gibberish: “The Lean workshops release an incredible energy in the participants. Lean basic workshops have been taking place since April this year. Former participants now lead workshops on their own and thus also bring in a very special, personal touch. Using concrete Mister Spex examples, some things are easier for everyone to understand. It is very nice to experience this independence at first hand! Since the participants come together from different areas, the workshops also create completely new networks.”
The implementation of the Lean philosophy in a company is always a dynamic and ongoing process. At Mister Spex, there is already a considerable development in the direction of Lean. It may still take some time for this philosophy to permeate all areas of the company, but the progress made so far is a promising sign for the future. It illustrates our company’s commitment and foresight to strive for continuous improvement. We are well on our way to fully realising the benefits of the Lean philosophy, and this speaks to the innovation and strategic thinking of the entire team.
