Mister Spex welcomes its 2026 apprentice cohort

On 1 August 2026, 53 young people will begin their apprenticeships at Mister Spex, one of Germany’s leading optical retailers. Of these, 50 will train as opticians. The company is thereby continuing its long term commitment to developing qualified professionals and supporting the future of the optical industry.

Investing in the next generation of professionals

Since 2016, a total of 310 apprentices have started their careers at Mister Spex, including 273 in optician roles. To provide practical and structured training, the company operates five dedicated training workshops in Berlin, Münster, Reutlingen, Mannheim and Cologne. These facilities allow apprentices to develop their technical skills and prepare thoroughly for their examinations.

“Highly qualified professionals are essential to the future of the optical industry. That is why we invest specifically in the next generation and create an environment in which young people can develop their professional and technical expertise,” says Heinzpeter Mandl, Executive Vice President Commercial at Mister Spex. “Our training workshops and the close integration of theory and practice provide a strong foundation for this. At the same time, we offer our apprentices long term career opportunities within the company.”

Practical experience, theory and individual support

Apprenticeships at Mister Spex combine practical experience in stores with classroom teaching at vocational schools and intensive learning periods in the company’s own training workshops. Each year, aspiring opticians spend around 14 weeks in a training workshop, focusing entirely on learning and refining their technical skills.

The programme also includes a structured company training plan, individual examination preparation and the option to complete the apprenticeship in a shorter period or on a part time basis. Since the programme was introduced, Mister Spex has offered permanent positions to an average of 80 percent of apprentices following successful completion of their training.

The company continues to support the professional development of its opticians after their apprenticeships through training and further education, including opportunities to qualify as master opticians.

By continuously developing its own pipeline of qualified professionals, Mister Spex strengthens its optical expertise and creates the foundation for personal, expert advice across its store network.
